How do I know if the pottery is durable?
One of the most important things to think about when considering pottery is the lifespan of the plateware. There is an infinite variety of clay in the world, and you want to pick a potter who knows their business and has had time to hone their skills to develop a viable, consistent body of work. The short answer is ‘Know Your Potter’. Ask about experience. Ask about the temperature to which they fire. (The hotter the better.) Ask for references. Ask for samples and test it yourself. Earthborn is glad to send samples. Just ask.
What is my ROI when buying Earthborn pottery?
Every decision is critical when you’re responsible for the bottom line. The vendors you choose, the menu you create, the ambiance in your spaces. The presentation of your art. The return on your investment comes when your art, framed by Earthborn pottery is placed in front of your clients and you see the ‘Wow!’ in their eyes. They know something special has come their way. Then they go home and talk about it. Word of mouth is invaluable.
What is the lead time on custom orders?
Typical orders generally take between 6-8 weeks. Larger orders, say for an entire restaurant, can take up to 12-16 weeks. Each piece of Earthborn pottery passes through multiple sets of hands. From prepping the clay to forming, finishing, firing, glazing, firing again, to polishing the finished vessel, Earthborn is truly a handmade piece of functional art.
Why would I choose Earthborn pottery?
Most tableware is made in large factories. At Earthborn we use old school techniques and personal hands-on working of the raw clay. It’s hard, physical labor. There’s nothing easy about pottery, the clay is heavy, the kilns are hot. While the volume is always consistent, the rim, the foot, the line of the vessel is open to interpretation. Collaborating with Earthborn guarantees you’ll have your own, specific vibe translated through your tableware. You are unique. Your plating should be too. It’s not for everybody.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. We’ve shipped to Amsterdam, London, Dubai, Panama, Hong Kong, and other distant locations.
Is this pottery dishwasher, oven, and microwave safe?
Absolutely. A brief pre-heat under hot tap water suffices, or storing the vessels in a warming oven is a guard against thermal shock. Never put any cold vessel on hot oven shelves, use a cookie sheet if you can’t preheat the vessel.
Is there a minimum order quantity?
No! We love working with chefs! Bring your ideas!
Can I have my logo branded on the pottery?
Yes! All we need is your artwork. We have a one-time charge for this stamp. There is no extra charge to brand your work.
